The History OF The Term Yahweh

According to the Christian bible, GOD is given many names among them are EL AND ADONAI. YAHWEH is believed to have been revealed to his people by the prophet Moses. The name was considered holy and therefore the letters YHWH were instead used to act as a reminder for one to use Lord instead of God name. The name has however changed over the ages to Jehovah which what is commonly used today.

Scholars argue that the tetragrammaton YHWH should be translated to mean I am who I am. This is because based on etymology it is believed to have been a verb in the ancient days meaning to be. This meaning can be backed up as it fits contextually in the books of Exodus and John. The pronunciation is however not known as in ancient Hebrew writing vowels were not included.

The deity is likewise known as the one that rules over the desert, which is understood from the holy book when the Hebrew were travelling to Canaan after exile from Egypt. According to the story, yhwh religious observance as the sole holy being was instated among the Canaanites. It was collective drill throughout that time that all holiness was only reachable where it presided. Gods of other regions were not accessible in other regions apart from where they were believed.

Been among the beliefs of the Israelites, it is hypothetical that Asherah was his consort. Monotheism can therefore be seen equally as a dawn manifestation, transitory via unlike phases before definite monotheism was established as the concord in Babylonian Exile. Opposing other beliefs, the Hebrew were the only ones that did not represent their god using idols. This is believed to be as a result of kings that ruled over the Hebrew.

In history, in the course of the arrival to Canaan by the Israelite its alleged that the original people of Canaan were polytheistic. There was however no hostility between the people. The scriptural narrative is understood to be against the polytheistic philosophy of these Canaanites.

It is perceived the name was used up to the 6th century. That is when the land of Judah which was known as Canaan was conquered by Nebuchadnezzar when he was king. The prisoners of war included, doctors, teachers among other elites. The people began to gather in synagogues where the priest gave directions to the younger people and run-through their integral language. This conserved the Israelite ethos and with that their god.

When the monarchial period of rule ended, the Hebrew custom started experiencing changes. The appellation was not voiced and only used during celebrations by the priests. It was used with additional terms with assorted inference such as, mekoddishkem, saboath, and nissi amongst others. The prominence of the heading is that it ascertains Gods existence. He is seen that He sought after that his relationship with his followers was not formal but instead personal.

In closing, in prehistoric times, a character of a person can be told by the name that was given to them. This term is hence seen as conveying the character of always been available to his people by the Israelite god.
