Why One Should Consider Join Womens Spiritual Support Groups

By Gregory Scott

What is a support group? It differs based on one s religious affiliation and can be defined as determined amount of time that is spent trying to reconnect with one s spirituality as an individual and the time they have taken away from earthly and material things in order to feel closer to the deity in which they believe in. Womens spiritual support groups can take place for a few hours to even a predetermined amount of time such as a month.

But it does not end there, if one is interested in backpacking to the Himalayas for a retreat that is also fine. Provided that they have the funds. After all, a retreat is fundamentally, a subjective journey to undertake and if going to the mountains between China and India is what needs to be done in order to find oneself, than that s what should be done. After all, there are plenty of new experiences and teachable moments to be learnt along the journey.

It s all about personal growth of the individual partaking in the retreat. The purpose of the retreat is for the individual to grow. This can be done through a number of ways and this growth is not limited to prayer. Meditation, yoga and even some forms of martial art can be considered spiritual in their nature as they promote the use of your spirit over that of the body.

Embarking on a retreat is a great way for one to unplug from technology. Be it a laptop, cellphone or even the TV. Time spent away from technology and repurposed towards the self is great for the spirit.

Prayer is not the only method in which one can use to engage and participate in at a retreat. There is also yoga, dance and meditation. But the following options are only a few of a surplus of methods that can be used in retreats.

As contractionary or blasphemous as this may sound. The bottomline should be that one should embark on a group for themselves. Yes, the reasoning behind it could be to find a way to be closer to God or to strengthen their faith. But it should be a decision undertaken by an individual and not out of peer pressure or for sake of doing it. It s a personal experience and therefore, should be treated as such.

One to take the time to develop the practise they have chosen. Whether the time of retreat is a few hours or even an entire working month. One must spend time with their prefered method of practice, be it dance or yoga, not only to improve upon it but to use the time of each session more efficiently. Maximizing each opportunity that presents itself. Every person has their personal motivations for a retreat but what most people if not all who undertake one would agree on is that afterwards, they feel rejuvenated and refreshed.

There are many benefits to retreats, these are but a few to help one in deciding whether to undertake such a journey, as nowadays religion forget to take care of our spiritual side and our soul battle to find his own way to talk to us.
