Top Reasons To Join The Military

A lot of parents are usually afraid when their kids tell them they want to join the army. The reason for this is because they have heard and seen a lot of soldiers die in cases of wars or other things. Even though they worry, in the end the come to understand what a career in this field entails and support their loved ones. Different people have different reasons to join the military.

Some people join the forces because of the love they have for their country. This is patriotism where an individual feels that defending and serving his country is the right thing for him to do. For such persons this is a calling while others do it because it is a family tradition. In return, they are held high and treated with respect in their communities.

The other reason is money. Military people usually receive a good paycheck at the end of every month. Apart from this, they also have other financial benefits such as free meals and housing, housing allowance for those living off base, retirement package after one leaves the army, bonuses and many other benefits. This aspect in itself attracts many people to this profession.

Another reason is education. With the current rate of inflation, tuition costs are always on the rise. This has made it very hard for persons who do not have money and the necessary assistantships to join colleges. But in the army, people can pursue their college degrees since there are usually education programs which are fully funded which individuals seek to join while there. In the end, one will be able to attain a degree which under normal circumstances he would not have gotten it.

Apart from education, the other motive is health care benefits. Soldiers and their families usually have free health care covering both medical and dental care. They also have access to group life insurance for service members. Their spouses and children are also insured by the cover. This reason is also attractive to individuals bearing in mind that medical care is usually a challenge for civilians.

Gaining work experience is yet another cause for a person to get into the forces. They usually get in for one or two terms in order to boost their resumes. With such an experience, the chances of an individual to get a job are increased as employers considered such people to be full of work ethics and are more likely to hire a person.

Other than experience, some people join because of job security. In this field, the chances of a person being laid off or fired are small except for those who commit crimes in the course of their work. This aspect therefore attracts numerous individuals. There are also those people who love to travel and in this career there is usually a lot of traveling and visiting various places.

The reasons to join the military are numerous. This article just provides the few known motives as others have other personal reasons to join the forces. Whichever the motive, being a soldier may make a person have focus in his or her life and also serve his country.
