Some Information On The Catholic Renewal

By Tracie Knight

The Catholic Church is probably the biggest and the most influential institution that has ever existed in the entire world. Of course if one is a strong worshipper, then he will probably know about the major changes that the church underwent throughout the years which is known as the Catholic renewal. Now for those who are not familiar with this period of time, here is a brief overview of what it was all about.

This drastic change that happened had three stages before an overall change was made to it. These three stages were namely, the translation of the Bible, the practices in the church, and of course the definition of faith in the lives of a worshipper. With these three changes, the catholic church was able to fling itself into the modern times and adapted to the change.

Now the very first stage was the translation of the Bible from Latin to contemporary languages. Before the transformation, the Bible always made use of Vulgate which is a fourth century translation of the Bible in the Latin language. During this time, the church revamped the whole Bible and translated it into languages that everyone could actually understand.

Now the one who initiated this command was none other than Pope Pius XII. In order to translate the entire Bible, they had to go over the texts many times and tried to directly translate it from Latin words so that the original message is still there. From there, they were able to make many translations that could be read by the people today.

The second stage were the liturgical practices of the worshippers during that time. For those who are not familiar with the term, liturgy is the name of the public service that worshippers would attend in which the church would host. During the renewal, they made their services simpler than before and called it a Mass.

Now this change began when the Second Vatican Council was established. The one who established this Vatican Council was none other than Pope John XXII and was actually ended by another famous Pope named Pope Paul VI. Of course this was the time that major changes were made in the rituals that the worshippers were taking part in so that people can worship better.

Now the very last one is the third one and is still going on until today. Now if one would remember that during the older times, the church would be very strict with their formal practices. Of course nowadays, they now have a more personal definition of faith.

So basically, these are the changes that the the Vatican made in order to become what it is today. The Catholic Church still continues to evolve even up to today because times are also changing as well and even something as big as the Vatican also has to adapt in some ways. It was actually because of this renewal period that it was able to connect to more people.
