For The Best Air Conditioning Grand Rapids Is Worth Visiting

By Rosella Campbell

Air conditioning is the process of altering temperature and humidity content of air within a space for favorable conditions. The conditioned air is normally distributed to other areas in the space to improve comfort. There are many methods and devices currently used to achieve this purpose. When in need of the most efficient air conditioning Grand Rapids is among the best places to consider making a visit to.

In more general terms, this process refers to any technology that is concerned with cooling, heating, humidification, dehumidification, air movement, ventilation, and cleaning of air. The devices used for this purpose are called air conditioners and they can be installed in homes as well as automobiles. The devices achieve cooling through simple refrigeration cycles although evaporation is sometimes used in some devices. In construction, the system that ventilates, heats, and conditions spaces is called HVAC.

Willis Carrier is responsible for developing the first modern conditioning equipment in 1902. Since invention, this system has had several applications in buildings. Major applications include maintaining a suitable level of humidity in structures, ensuring proper ventilation, and eliminating excess humidity in the environment during certain months. Other applications include cooling and heating during hot and cold months respectively. The system also eliminates soot, pollen grains, dust, micro-organisms and other foreign bodies from interior spaces.

A standard conditioner is able to do both heating and cooling depending on the mode it is operating in. When it is being used for cooling, it blows air currents from the outside into the home. This is achieved by sucking heat from air derived from the atmosphere before blowing it into the home. The device has an evaporator coil over which currents of air are blown to cool them.

A refrigerant absorbs heat to change from liquid into gaseous state as it circulates within the evaporator coils. The refrigerant changes back into a liquid upon reaching condenser coils after it releases the heat it had gained. When in heating mode, the opposite of this process takes place. The refrigerant turns to gaseous form within the condenser and back to liquid in evaporator coils. That way, heat gained is released into the house hence heating it.

The coils must be checked and maintained frequently because the coils may burst and cause the refrigerant to leak. The refrigerant is moved around the coils by a pump called a compressor. The compressor is in turn powered by a motor which uses electrical energy. The system gives out cooling energy that is three times that consumed by the compressor. This makes the system very effective.

Conditioning requirements of buildings are estimated through complex calculations to ensure that the systems installed are not overworked. In cases where the refrigerant leaks out, the capacity of the device is adversely affected. Installing too many electrical appliances in the building beyond the recommended number leads to production of more heat which affects the performance of a conditioner.

Placing the container with the condenser coils in open places with good ventilation for ease of loss of heat can help improve efficiency in the product. Leaves or other forms of debris that can clog the system should be leaned frequently. High efficiency in an appliance translates into better performance and lower energy consumption.
