By Patrick Long

Figuring out whether being a life coach is the right move or career path for you to follow can be nerve-wracking. You always want to make the best choice when choosing your career so that you do not later regret the choice you made. This is an article on working as a certified life practitioner.

Specialize in a certain area first. Situations differ all the time. It is hard for you to be a general coach. You cannot go from dealing with family issues to handling business or work cases. You need to identify yourself to one field that your clients can relate to. Research on the different specializations of a coach and determine which one suits you most.

Ensure you have received all the required training to practice being a coach. You need to show exceptional skills in the assessment of a situation and reasoning with the information you obtain. You should also clearly and carefully communicate back your thoughts on the matter so that you are not misquoted. You should possess great work ethics for the client to see that you are a professional.

Credentials are significant to have, especially if they are from a recognized organization. One great example that you should consider receiving accreditation from is the International Association of Coaching. There are some qualities that they look for and guideline that they follow before awarding a certificate. Tests need to show how exceptional you are in knowledge and skills.

Register a business for you to practice. You cannot be conducting any earning activity if you are not registered with the relevant authorities. This could cause you problems with the law. It could also shut down your operations. Determine where you want to classify your business. You could be the sole proprietor or set it under a partnership. While at it, do not forget to register for taxes and duly file them annually. This is also important to be on the side of the law.

Location of your office is really important. You must be in an area where there are more of your target customers. Being in an area that you receive very few to no clients could be devastating for the business. After figuring out the location, find a good enough space to be your office. A big space gives enough confidence to both you and the clients.

Charging customers too high could make you lose them. Charging them too low could bring down your business. You need to find the right balance in the pricing that is of convenience to both you and the consumers. Figure out what most coaches charge and determine the best price range for you from there. Also, decide the various ways you want payments to be made. You could base the charges purely on subscriptions or on per session basis.

Provide insurance for your business. Personally, as a coach, you do not require any insurance in connection with the company. However, it is essential for the company itself to have coverage. This will protect it against any losses that it may incur. This could be office damage or the loss of a partner if you have one. You want your operations to continue despite any difficulties that may arise, and having insurance could be of really great benefit.
