During adolescence, teenagers experience a lot of body changes making this phase of child development a very critical one. They might later decide that whenever they have the same symptoms, they go and get drugs by themselves. This is substance abuse and may also lead to addiction.

Some ways of preventing them include creating awareness among teenagers on the side effects of substance abuse and also introducing counseling in learning institutions.
