Bobby Jain: The Holiday Shopping Do's & Don'ts That Save You Money

By Jason McDonald

It's that time of year again when people are in the shopping mindset, traveling to various stores and retailers to find the perfect gifts for friends and loved ones. Most people associate this endeavor with large amounts of money spent, but this doesn't have to be the case. As a matter of fact, there are quite a few ways that you can save money during this process. For those that would like to learn more, here are a few cost-effective holiday do's & don'ts provided by the likes of Bobby Jain.

DO note that the most expensive gifts aren't always the best ones. As a matter of fact, the gifts that are often best are the ones from the heart. What this means is that you don't necessarily have to break the bank when shopping for certain presents. What do your friends like? What shows are your parents into? These are just a few questions you should ask so that you can be more creative with gift giving. The best part is that you won't have to go into debt by doing so.

DON'T leave shopping to particular days. Are you the kind of person that likes to wait until Black Friday to do the bulk of their holiday shopping? If so, you might be interested to know that deals can be found at virtually any time of the holiday season. This is especially true if you enjoy shopping online, as you're likely to find the items you want at lower prices. This is just one of many ways to help yourself, as names like Bob Jain will attest.

DO note that early holiday shopping tends to be best. Not only will shopping early on in the year save you time, but it may prove easier on your bank account as well. One of the most common issues that people run into, when shopping during this time of the year, is that they start too late. Ergo, they may not be able to get gifts to people on time. The sooner that you begin, the fewer problems that you'll run into.

DON'T forget about the addition of shipping. If you're going to do most, if not all, of your shopping online, understand that shipping rates add up. You'll want to do business with retailers that won't charge too much in this sense. Fortunately, if you spend a certain amount, you may be able to benefit from free shipping. Regardless, if you're not careful, shipping can rack up ample money in the long term.
