Last week, my manager called me into his office to meet someone. Julie was a young professional who just moved into the area and was looking for a job. Before leaving the East Coast, he asked his circle of influence if they knew and could share contacts 1-2 in their new city. When Julie arrived, she immediately went to their new contacts and took 15 minutes of your time. One of these contacts was my boss.
After
a brief conversation about what I wanted, I told him of certain bodies
and offered to make introductions if send me your resume. She did ... and I did. Within 5 days, was interviewed and hired as an event handler to celebrate a major regional. Job done!
There
are so many marvelous job search database on the market, but research
database the most perfect job that you can use, it is its own network.
Julie
has three important things that triggered your network and make your
job search a success: she asked for help, she went through it and follow
up.
Activate your network
1. Ask for help
Ask your network to provide the names of 2-3 with the contact information of someone who will help in your job search. Keep the list small. It is easy for someone to come up with some names rather than a complete list.
2. Follow through
It
is not easy to communicate with someone who does not know, but I
already have a foot in the door because you were referred by his best
friend's brother fraternity, former boss, mentor , football coach for the kids or mom. Send a simple email to say a mutual acquaintance should contact them and ask 10 minutes of time, either by phone or in person. To ensure email opens, type the name of the person who referred the case - Referred by John Smith.
3. Tracing
When someone makes a recommendation information, suggestions or additional requests, immediately. The longer you wait, the cooler head. This is why you need to keep your job search documents in order and ready for use at any time. You never know when the opportunity arises
