The dynamics of productivity have been the subject of many studies and scholarly works. Many different techniques have been used to increase output but in the end, it seems that the best results can only be expected if the workforce is motivated. Employees that love their job and that are loyal to employer is more likely to be conscientious and to produce better results. Motivational products are often used to spur workers on or to reward productivity.

There is no definite consensus on the issue of what it is that motivates people to go the extra mile. However, many employees will state that they regard cash as the best possible reward. Some experts disagree, but cash has the benefit that it allows the employee to decide for himself how it can best be used. In fact, surveys show that cash bonuses are the most sought after rewards in the corporate world.

Most organizations employ a variety of techniques and methods to try and motivate their employees. The use of posters, encouraging emails and videos is popular. Successes are highlighted in this way and those responsible for the achievements are praised. Most people enjoy this type of public recognition. These methods are also used to remind employees of the objectives of the business and their importance in helping to achieve those goals.

Keynote speakers are also a very popular way in which to motivate employees. These speakers are able to relate their personal experiences in overcoming hardship, difficulties and obstacles to end up as huge successes in their various fields. They are often able to motivate their audiences to never give up, to chase dreams and to persevere. They are effective because their messages are personal and often a matter of public record.

Many productivity experts maintain that personalized gifts are the best motivator. This is because recipients are often able to display or use their gifts with pride, explaining that they were rewards for special achievements. Gifts can range from simple items such as household appliances and stationery to very expensive gestures such as holidays and memberships to fitness clubs.

Everybody loves recognition and the more public it is the better. It is only human nature to want, even crave a pat on the back. Most companies realize this and therefore have a system whereby certificates of achievement, employee of the month schemes and other forms of public recognition are given for achievements. It is important, however, to make sure that such rewards remain exclusive.

Every person is unique and not everybody is motivated by the same thing. That is why it is advisable to implement a system of rewards and recognition that will cater for a variety of motivation triggers. Some people lust after recognition while others are motivated by money and prestige. The trick is to make sure that rewards are given fairly and according to well defined criteria.

Motivational products, in all the various forms, are important to employees. Rewards often serve to encourage employees to try even harder and recognition can play a very important role in fostering loyalty. Many companies realize this fact and they do not see rewards as an expense but rather as an investment in productivity and good public relations.
