American Made Products Only Sold Here

By Mara Boone

There are now a million products that people can buy online if they so choose. The great thing about the Internet and purchasing things on the Internet is the global marketplace that everyone now has access to. However convenient this might be in the United States we need to start buying more from home. This is why people should buy American made products only.

For years foreign made products have sold in the United States and sold very well. The automobile industry especially is a great example of this trend. Once the foreign car companies started selling to us and their vehicles were being sold cheaper and some started to last longer people started to notice and that was all it took.

Slowly, people were buying Japanese and German vehicles off the showroom floor. They were outlasting their American counterparts and even if they did need repairs, the parts were often cheaper. When the economy started to show some signs of weakening people around the country looked for ways to save money and that was it.

Buying homemade products not only helps you to feel like you did something to help, but believe it or not you are supporting the creating of jobs in the US. This is something that the government has been trying to do for years with only moderate success. The people can almost do it by themselves if we would just purchase the right products.

The companies found they could save money by moving their manufacturing operations to other countries where the materials and the labor was less expensive. The money they saved in production was their way of making up for what they lost in sales to foreign goods. All of this only caused the problems to get worse however.

Their strategies have worked to get United States shoppers driving their vehicles and buying their items from our stores. Everything they purchase is from various other countries and to them that is just fine. Many of them see these products as better made than the ones from the US and they feel that the homemade ones are inferior.

Our cars are seen to be inferior to theirs. This might not be true in all cases but it does not have to be. All they need is one or two vehicles to hold up longer than an American made one and the public will take it from there. The media presents this as a winning strategy and the Japanese companies take that to heart.

The auto industry was what was needed to make this work and selling American made products only was the way to do it. We started selling more cars and trucks. They came up with new incentives and new deals to bring in more customers. It began to work and in time we were bridging the gap between us and them. The economy was coming back. Consumers were regaining their faith in American goods and they were buying more and more. Even cars were being bought at a record pace.
